At the inquest on George Marsh, who waß killed by a fall from the quarry to-day the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, attaching blame to nobodji Auckland, December 7. At th« inquest on Hawthorn, keeper of the powder magazine, a verdict of suicide while temporally insane was returned. The police have received a telegram from Constable White. Ngaruawahia, giy. ing particulars of an alleged attempted suicide. Some workmen on the Komo» korau side of the river noticed the four roomed house of a single man, named John Thomas, a special settler, on fire. Potter, who was inside with his throat cut, was rescued by two men who broke the door open. The man was removed to the Hamilton Hospital. The injuries are stated not to be serious.
