Apiti Sports.

♦ The Apiti Sports Committee have been exceptionally fortunate in securing an excellent piece of ground on Mr Donald McKenzie's property, for the inaugural sports to be held in that rising little township on New Year's Day. A recent visitor who had the pleasure of inspect* ing the site, informs us that it is in every way admirably adapted for an athletic gathering. A more convenient spot could not have been selected, situated as it is, right iv the heart of the township with the distinct advantage of being close to a good metalled road, while the thirsty mortal with a desire for " cooling revivers" will not have a big walking contract before him, as the ground is within a short distance from Mr Eagar's popular hosterly. Mr McKenzie is to be commended for his thoughtfulnesß in providing such an excellent site, and as the energetic committee are now doing their utmost in the interests of the gathering, we may feel assured their efforts will be crowned with success. A capital programme of events has been prepared, liberal money prizes being given so as to induce keen competition. Therefore a pleasurable day's outing may be anticipated by those who take an interest in healthy out-door amusements.
