■♦ WELLINGTON BEATS OTAGO. VICTORIA v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. [per vress association.! Dunedin, December 3. The cricket match, Wellington y. Otago, was concluded to-day, ending in a deserved win for Wellington by 45 runs. Some rain had fallen during the morning, but the wicket was in fine order. The visitors, going in for their second innings, were disposed of for 68, A. Blacklock (45) and C. Gore (10) being the only players to make double figures. Downes took seven wickets for 31 runs. Requiring 100 rans to win, Otago went in for their second innings, but a perfect rot set in, the players batting in a spiritless manner, all being disposed of for the ridiculous total of 54 runs. Williams (18) was the only player to make a stand. Upham took five wickets for 13 runs, and Ashbolt five for 41 runs. There seems to have been no excuse for the feeble display of the local men. Chbistchuhch, December 3. Following is the team to represent Canterbury in the cricket match against j Wellington :— L. A. Cuff, H. de Maus, J. N. Fowke, A. M. Labatt, Medlow, T. F. North, A. E. Ridley, H. C. Ridley, W. Robertson, W. C. H. Wigley, and F. Wilding. Adelaide, Dec. 3. The first innings of South Australia closed for 858— George Giffen (not out) 94. Victoria, ha their second innings, made 134, Harry being chief scorer with 45. South Australia, requiring 29 runs to win, knocked up the requisite number with the loss of a wicket, and thus won by ten wickets.
