Q It was resolved in Cabinet yesterday to proceed with tho erectisu of new police stations at Aratapu and Pukekohe, in the Auckland district, and at Waitahuua, in Otago. The ono at Pukekohe will probably be constructed on the cooperativo principle and the others by contract. Cabinot also docliued on the erection of a new eaol at Dunediu. This work will likewise bo carried out on the cooperative principle, and is estimated to cost about £10,000. Tho plans provide for a brick building with ornamental facings, and the object is to make it as externally unlike a goal as possible, seeing that it is to occupy the present gaol site inside the city and near tho new police station, which in general design it is to match. Arrangements are being completed by the Public Works Department for making an early start with the dredging of Nelson Harbour, which was authorised by Parliament lust session. Tho department is now in treaty with tho Wostport and Groymouth Harbour Boards for tho hire of a suitable dredging plant. Mr Wilson, resident engineer at Wellington, is to have charge of the dredging operations — Times.
