Primitive Methodist Church.
The quarterly meeting in connection with tho Primitivo Methodist Church was held yesterday afternoon. Tho meeting was large and representative, delegates being present from all parts of the circuit. Tho following delegates were olected to attend the Conference which meets in Wellington in January, viz : Rev. Clements and Messrs B. Gray and J. C. Thompson. Reports were gone into and found to be of a satisfactory nature. ' The delegates will report at the Confereuce as follows: —There has been a slight increase of Sunday School scholars aud teachers, Five names have been taken off tho roll and four new ones placed on it. Two new Churches have been erected in the circuit, one at Awahuri— which was opened free of debt— and one at Colyton, on which was a dobt of £'90. Tho latter Church was more expensive than the former. The income for the quarter slightly below expenditure, but steps will be taken to liquidate debit balance. The total income of the circuit from all sources for the past 12 months was £629 4s 6d.
At six o'clock a public tea was held, the provisions lor which wero kindly given by the ladies of the congregation. Tho tables were presided over by the Misses M. and M. E. Heald, Beazer, Mackenzie, and Mesdames Scott, Freeman, and Fidler. There was a large attendance at the tea, also at the public meeting which was held afterwards, presided over by Mr Gould. Short addresses were given by Messrs Broadbelt, Smith, Hunt, Curran, and the Revs. Grindley and Clements. During the evening a solo was sung by Miss Heald, duet by Mr and Mrs Mills, and a recitation giveu by Mrs Clements. Miss Valentine presided at the organ. Votes of thanks were carried to all who had assisted at the tea .
