FEILDING SPORTS.

TO THE KDITOU OF THE STAR. Sir, — It is refreshing to notice the Sports Committee have had the courage of their opinions and have included in their programme the wrestling events. The Committee aver since their initiation haye been too conservative in the class and number of events provided, but now the ice is broken I trust they will introduce new items annually and thus go on to perfection. Why sir, I nsk, should we not havo the noble art or self defence illustrated and a money prize or cup given for the best boxer, light gloves could be used to make it interesting, and to conclude the event with a grand climax, tho deciding round could be fought with bare knuckles. Then there is another item I would also like to see included, I suppose it is not too late even now to do so, and that is cock fighting. I believe there ar» several good game cocks in the district, nnd apart from the fun to bo extracted from this class of sport, it would give an impetus to trade as nearly every rooster would havo to be pvovided with steel epmv, whiuh not being obtainable they would have to be manufactured in 1 eilding. I notice the platform for dancing is not greatly used for that purpose, this could be boarded round and convened into a rat pit, we could then have tbo edifying sight of Porupey v Carlo so many rats a luuui'e. If that failed to catch on it could be changed to Man v Dog, all ruts to bo killed by thtteeth. But enough ; these are only a few of the suggestions I have in my mind's eye If the Secretary will at once call a special meeting, and include the above in their present programme, I shall be only too <^lad to introduce to their notice several more interesting and novel contests which havo lately been introduced in London and Now York. Apologising for occupying 60 much of your Valuuble space, but a sincere wish for the welfare of the Feilding Sports must be my excuse. I am, etc., Bill Sykes
