Pohangina Notes.

Mr Selby, County Councillor for the Pohangina Hiding, met his constituents on Thursday night at 7 o'clock, in the ball belonging to The Brethren in the township, which was kindly lent for the occasion, Mr Adaott iv the chair. Mr Selby made a number of suggestions as to draining and roading the town, and it was, he said, to consider these that he had called them together. Maps were passed round to facilitate the explanations. The questions were full discussed, and it was ultimately decided that Mr Selby request (he Engineer to make ru estimate of the proposed drainage scheme, and for making all tho town and suburban roads as quickly ns possible, so that they may be laid before another meeting for approval or otherwise ; and if approvod that the necessary stops may be at once taken for raising a loan. The usual votes of thanks terminated the meeting. A meeting of milk suppliers was held at the local creamery on Thursday to protest against tho action of the Directors in raising the standard of test from 3.6 to 3.8 on which 3d per gallon is in future to be paid. A letter from the suppliers at Bunnythorpc was read aud the stand taken by them was endorsed. By the rules issued last year it was stated that the test 3.6 should remain in force for three years and the action of the direction in raising it was strongly condemned. Messrs Sinclair and Ililein wore appointed a deputation to join with the Bunnythorpe delegates iv waiting on the Directors at their next meeting to emphatically protest against the alteration. The suppliers consider that, iv the face of the fact that the last year's operations realised a profit on the old test and that the company were receiving lllbs of milk to tho gallon, instead of 10^ lbs as fixed by the Government, the Directors are not justified iv their action. They also feel that tho nou- suppliers are receiving more consideration at the hands of the company, whereas it should bo the reverse. The feeling of the meeting was that the test should bo made in the presence of the suppliers. —Standard.
