The New Bishop of Wellington.
o (Auckland Herald Correspondent.) London, October 6. A few dajs ago I had a lonfi chat with your new bishop-designate, the Key. Frederic Wallis. "Should yon mind telling me," I asked, " How your church viewa ought to be described ? " Not a bit," replied Mr Wallia, " If it were not bo very difficult to express them precisely. You gee," he said, " I am rather like that bisbop who was asked the same question and who replied, ." I never call anybody nomes or myself either 1 You see what I mean ? lam not at all a party man. •'Possibly, 11 I ventured to observe." «' Bishop Julius's description of himself, in his first Christchurch speech, would meet your case, when he said he was au Evangelical High Churchman holding Broad Church viows ? " " Excellent, 11 said the Bishop-designate, laughing heartily. "Ye 9 ; I think that would do very well, indeed. I certainiy do like a well-ordered, hearty, musical, church* like service. I am very glad to hear there are so many of these vow in New Zealud, and that all the three Welling, ton churches have such excellent services and choirs. The Bishop-designato is an enthusiastic bicyclist, and has no idea of abandoning his favourite exercise when he settles down in New Zealand, bo you will have to grow accustomed to see a pair of gaitered legs beneath a black apron propelling a ' patent safety ' along your streets and roads at 20 miles an hour or so.
