Feilding Cycling Club.
The cycling season was opened yesterday afternoou when seven wheelmen joined in tho procession and rode down tho Awahuri road for the opening run, a start having been made from Manchester Square. Mr S. Andrews, captain of the local club, being in command. In the evening a smoke concert was hold in Mr F. Mackenzie's refreshment rooms, when about twenty cyclists and prospective oyclists assembled. A light repast was provided and Mr S. Andrews captain of the Feilding Club, presided. The usual toasts were duly honored as follows:— "The Queen," proposed by tho chairman ; " The Feilding Cycling Club," proposed by Mr J. Trewin and responded to by Mr Andrews ; " The president and vice-president," proposed by Mr E. H. Fisher, ".New Zealand Cy« clists Union," proposed by Mr E. H. Ricketts and responded to by Mr E. 11. Fisher ; " Athletics," proposed by Mr E. Feck and responded to by Mr A. Richards ; " The Pr«ss," proposed by Mr J. Mingins ; " Tho Ladies," proposed by Mr F. W. Treseder and responded to by Mr J. Trewin ; " Our host, Mr Mackenzie," proposed by Mr Andrews; "Our visitors," proposed by Mr A. H. Way, coupled with the names of Messrs Tresscder, Moore and Durant, who responded. The musical part of the programme was contributed to by Messrs F. \V. Treseder E. H. Ricketts, Dnrant, C. Aitkeu aud E. H. Fisher. Mr S. llooro playing the accompaniments. A most enjoyable i evening was brought to a close at 10.80 by tho company singing " Auld Lang Syne," Apologies were received fornouattondance, through unavoidable circumstances, from the president and vice president, Mr W. A. Sandilands and Mr E. Milfs respcctiye.lT.
