THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
Owing to the success of the iuvention of Mr Nelson for thawing frozen meat, aud the fact that the price of mutton treated by the now process has so materially advanced three farthings per pound— we may safely predict, a revival of confidence iv this industry. A contemporary informs us the estimated increase in the values will add half a million pounds sterling to the gain of tho trade, which should go far to recoup them for losses of the past year or two. Another patent has been taken out by the engiueer at Townsville (Queensland) Meat Freezing Works, the inventor of which claims that by his process of thawing, frozen meat can bo reatored to its original condition perfect as regards colour and flavour. Unddr the new and more favorable couditions which now proraiso to obtain in this trade, sheep farmers should largely benefit, whilo other collateral industries, we have every confidence, will be awakened into new life, and a spirit of greater enterprise be in fused iuto them which ha* been conspicuous by its absence for the last two or three years.
