A Voice From Coolgardie.

- » ■ A New Zealand man in Coolgardie TTrote as follows to a friend in Feilding : —I cannot advise you to come here unless you have a turn for engineering or architecture as this part of the country depends altogether on gold mining to bold It together. There will soon be plenty of machinery coming up aud mines starting work, so I expect engineers, etc., will be in demand. I don't think it is worth any body's while to come here from New Zealand to prospect and I beHeve there will be too many pests to contend with in agriculture, and I would rather leave the experiment to Bomeone else. We have about 6 months dry in the winter, and the rest of the year the rain, opines clowu in torrents, and the locusts are sure to play havoc with any crops, they sometimes make the sun quite dark. I wish I had gone to North America instead of coming up here. I don't know that I won't go there yet. It is very hard to get a decent billet in town as there are a good many fellows looking out for something to do. If I thought I could get a billet again, without much trouble, I would return to Kow Zealand. This is deuce of a country for fever although the Chartered Company hush it up a good deal. The whiskey they sell up here is so killing that I never touch it siuce it played mo a dirty trick one day and sent me head over heels down some steps.
