The result of the ballot taken by the New Zealand Shipmaster's Association as to the most suitable site for a new light house in the vicinity of Wellington has been made public. The majority of offi cers consulted have decided on Cape Palliser, and the Minister for Marine is to be urged to erect a lighthouse there. A special meeting of the Shipmasters' Association is to be held to consider the question of connecting prominent light* houses on the coast by telegraph and the institution of a system of fog signals on our coast. • sristchurch. Norember 10 Tho boys who fell over the cliff at Godley Heads on Friday were sons of tho Hou. L. Walker. One had Iris thigh broken, but the other escaped with a shaking ami a few scratches. Their rescue was effected with considerable difficulty. A number of ladies bad the pockets cut out of their dresses and their purses stolen at the Show Grounds on Friday
