Presentation.

A pleasant ceremony took place at the cboir practice at St. John's Church last evening, when the Rev. Inucs Jones, on behalf of the members of the choir, presented Mr W. G. Nicholas, their late choirmaster, with a conductor's baton and three church books. In making the presentation the rev. gentleman referred to the fact that Mr Nicholas had been connected with St. John's choir for about 16 years, during which time he and the cboir bad worked harmoniously together, with beneficial results. They did not like him to leave the choir without some recognition of his services, and it gave him much pleasure to hand him this slight present as a spontaneous offering of the members of the choir. Mr Nicholas, in a few words, acknowledged the gift, and stated that bis reasou for leaving the choir was that he was getting up in years, and he found it too great a tie. The baton was of ebony, silver mounted, with tbe following inscription : "W. G. Nicholas. From the cboir of St. John's, Feilding, 1894." Tbe books, which wero handsomely bound in calf, consisted of the Cathedral Psalter and Chant Book, and an Ancient and Modern Hymn Book.
