Tho Appeal Court is ougaged heariug the case of the Union Bank v. the South Canterbury Building and Investment Company, which is expected to last several days. The Bank brought au action agaiuat the Company (which is in liquidation) and tbe liquidators (Messrs Montgomery and Quinn) to recover advances mado to the amount of £8000. Judge Denniston gave judgment against tbe bank on the general question and for it on minor points, and the cross appeals are now being argued.
