THE HOUSE CRITICISED.
The Wellington Post in an article comparing the present Parliament with its predecessors says : — " The House as a whole rtpresents a very low intellectual and political type, it is deficient iv character, principle, aud political knowledge, and it it quite incapable of taking a broad, liberal, aud comprehensive view of any larjje political «>r social questions Faddiam prevails amongst its component atoms to an alarming extent, and in pursuit of theories, or blind obedience to Party calls, great truths fail to obtain recognition, or, if recognised, ar« cut dead and altogether ignored. Ibe luxuriant loquacity aud verbosity in which 10 many members have revelled have only served to bring out in glaring prominence the absence of logical reasoning powers on the part of the talkers, and their ignorance of the subjects they hare talked about The existence of such a House bodes ill for the future of the colony." This is a severe indictment but it only reflects the opinion of a very large section of the community.
