FOUR MEN DROWNED. | Per Press Association] Hokitika, October 80, A sad drowning fatality occurred in the river this afternoon. A boat containing two men was seen coming down the river about 1.30 p.m., there being at the time a strong B.W. wind blowing and a freah in the river. Off the bar the boat was caught in a cross current, the sail jibed and she capsized immediately, and she was swept out to sea. The occupants wera John McDonald, aged 60, and his sod Donald, aged 16 Years. A search ia proceeding for the bodies There were four men in the boat, alt of whom were drowned. Two bodies — McDonald, senior, and Yennard — were recovered this morning on the beach five miles to the north. There is no sign as yet of young McDonald and the fourth man, Graham. Dunedin, October 20. The body found in the harbour has been identified, as tuat of Carrick Martin. A bottle marked " poison " was found on the body.
