Our Industrial Schools.
There are in all 1550 children now in the industrial schools of the colony er under their control as boarders our Last year 209 cases were admitted, classified as to cauee as follows : — Destitution 75 ; immoral surround ing-s, 61 ; crime 38 ; vagrancy, 23; want ot control, 10; parents convenience, 2. With respect to religious profession the division is — Church of England, 90 ; Koman Catholic, 82 ; Presbyterian, 23; Methodist, 12; " Church of Christ," ; not known, 1. Fifty-one cases were not due to any misconduct on the part of the parents ; in 20 cases the information justifies no inference ; in 40 cases blame attaches to the father alone ; in 58 cases to the mother alone ; and in 35 cases to both parents. From the medical reports it is gathered that the boardinpr out system works well, and the children are looked alter with care by their foster parents.
