The West Australian Goldfields.

ANOTHER BICH DISCOVERY. Coolgardie, September 80. Perth people have, it is believed, secured one ot the big prizes of the field. Messrs Menzies and Thomson, who prospected on behalf of a Perth syndicate, in which Messrs Neil Mc» Neil, George Shenton, and others are largely interested, have discovered a very big reefing property 25 miles north of Ninety Mile. The reef is described as wonderful. The stone brought in by the prospectors it wonderfully rich. Unlike most recent discoveries, the gold varies from fine to shotty pieces carried in solid stone. A 5200 a • slug ' of gold, recently uneatthed at Kurnalpi, was brought into the bank to day. It is flat, and about as big as a man's hand. The reef discovered ten miles from Black Flag has a very promising appearance. It is known locally as the Barrier reef. Water has been struck in Cosgrove's mine at a depth of 80 feet m the new vertical shaft An 83oz nugget has been discovered at Eurnalpi and will be banked within the next few days. In the deep shaft of Tindall's mine a reef eight feet wide has been me* with at a depth of 170 feet, carrying gold all through it. Fresh water has been struck in a well sunk in the heart of the town by a private waer company. The water was met with at a depth of 157 feet. It was beautifully fresh but slightly sweet, bo far the supply is very limited, merely a bucket or two making in one corner ot the shaft. The rock is decomposed granite. The Water Supply Departmental officers state that a similar supply of fresh water was struck in the Government well, but was too hmi tea, being estimated at 78 gallon? daily, but there was a big supply of salt water underneath, A splendid supply of water has been struck at Conge Grass Swamp, four miles from the Londonderry mioe. Like all lake water, it needs condensing, but the mines in the locality are now being supplied at 4d per gallon. Several condensers are being started at Cattle B wn in p on wells recently dug by the Government. The supply at this lake, or swamp, at tne depth of 14 font, is practically unlimited, while Red Lake, on Hampton Plains, is yielding large quantities.
