Accidents and Fatalities.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, October 15. A woman named Hope, wife of George Hope, was accident]; killed by falling out of a cab, Thts Day, At the inquest on the body of Mrs Minnie Hope, wife of George Hope, jockey, of Napier, tbe jury returned a verdict that " Minnie Hope met her death by falling from ths driver's seat of a hansom cab wbils the cab was moving quickly up Kyber Pass, causing concussion of the brain, deceased being drunk at the time." The coroner stated that the verdict was practically a charge of manslaughter against Samuel Pierce, the driver, whom the coroner ordered to be taken into custody. Chbistchubch, Octoher 15 John Bell, an employe at Lake Sumner station, was drowned while swimming a horse in Lake Taylor on Sunday. His companion endeavoured to rescue him but without avail.
