Melboubne, October 15The jockeys were so disobedient on Saturday that the whole 23 in tho Toorak Handicap were fiued £5 each. Their behaviour bas caused an outcry from the owners and trainers for the immediate introduction of the starting machine. Bruin has been knocked back to 100 to 4 for the Caulfield Cup. Cobbitv and the Harvester are equal favourites for the Derhy at 5 to 1, Bonnie Scotland 6 to 1, Dreamland 7 to 1. Ruenalf is favourite for tho Melbourne Cup at 100 to 8, Carnage having receded 100 to 5. Betting is dull, pending acceptances to-morrow. Bruin has hardened again for the Caulfield Cup, and 100 to 6 is tho best offer. The other wagers taken are : —1200 to 60 against Havoc, 700 to 17-J-Foxtail, 200 to 4 The Possible (who is likely to see a much shorter price if started). Paris and Brilliant are quoted at 100 to 4.
