North Island Trunk Railway.

(Per Press Association). Wellington, October 10. The Auckland and Taranaki members of Parliament held a meeting to-day to consider the question of road and rail* way communication between Auckland and Taranaki. Sir G. M. O'Rorke presided. It was resolved, on the- motion of Mr Lawry, That the Minister of Lands should bo requested by depu. tation to put a sum of .£B,OOO on tho supplementary estimates to open a cattle track between Taranaki and Waikato, via Awakino; that Govern* ment should be asked to expend at once upon the Main Trunk railway the balance of the loan money amounting to about £70,000; and that the work of road construction should be carried on between Stratford and Auckland. Sir G. M. O'Rorke and Messrs Mitchelson, Crowther, and George Hutchison were appointed members of the deputation to meet the Minister of Lands.
