EUROPEAN WARSHIPS ORDERED TO CHINA. CHINA RAISING A £10,000,000 LOAN. A STIRRING MANIFESTO. THE JAP\NESE URGE THE CAPTURE OF PEKIN. CHINA TO BE PUNISHED FOR HER PRIDE. (Per Press Association.) London. October 6 The Pall Mall Gazette states that the Cabinet has rejected the proposal for combined interference of the Great Powers to 6tay the hand of the Japanese. Paris, October 6. The cruiser lsly haß been ordered to China, and sails on Monday. October 7. Further addition is to be made in the French fleet in Chinese waters, and the cruieers Alger and DougariJouin and the gunboat Lulin are under orders to proceed there. Berlin, October 6. Two additional warships are being sent to China. . Shanghai, October 6. A rebellion has broken oat in Mongo Ha and troops have been 6ent to suppress it. October 7 It is reported that the Chinese hare evacuated Moukden, and that the Ugan force is retreating on Kaiehau. Rumours are current that 70 Japanese warships and transports entered the Gulf of Pechelee on Tuesday, and steered in a north easterly direction. Two Thousand of Li Hung Chang's crack corps have deserted, owing to their not having been paid. China is raising a loan of ten million! sterling through a Tientsin firm Sydney, This Pay. Tokio papers publish a manifesto, issued by the Progressist Party, urging that Pekin be captured without delay, and that China be compelled to sign in the capital a convention for permanent preservation of peace in the East, and that the pride and obstinacy of China .be 1 crushed. The manifesto further says that to con* elude a temporary peace would only create fresh dodges, and that as the object of Japan in declaring war was to assist Corea, every possible effort should be put forth to prevent Corea being made the centre of action.
