Correspondence.
ROWDYISM AT KANGIWAHIA. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,— From the style of "Peter Styles' " letter in your issue of the 24th September, I think he must be one of those individuals, who, if he were only able to read "Deadwood Dick's" sensationals, or in fact any other reading matter, would have cause to be thankful, for he then might not have made such wild statements as he did. If he has known Rangiwahia for the length of time he says, he must purposely have closed his ears and eyes many times not to have heard insulting language and seen fighting, not only by day, but in all hours of the night ; or, perhaps he is one who favors whiskey and its surroundings, who, after being a short time in the city, becomes oblivious to all around. If " Peter Styles " or any of the licensing committee wish to know more on the unpleasant subject, let them enquire of the settlers (those who have lived here longest know most), and not ask for too much of the truth to be published in newspapers. " Peter Stylei " is evidently trying to fit the cap on the wrong head. If this one fits him, let him wear it. What young ladies and dough, la grippe, and a man out of the bush, have to do with the matter I fail to see. I am, etc., T. Moffatt, Rangiwahia
