Cricket News.

A meeting of tho Birmingham Cricket Club was held in Mr Lowes' Hotel on Saturday evening last. Mr Alfred Dick presided. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr A. Dick ; vice-president, Messrs T. A. Bryce and T. Lowes ; captain, Mr A. Tompkins ; secretary, Mr Edwin Saudeman ; treasurer, Mr J. W. Burno ; match committee, Messrs F. Barlow, E. Palmer, W. Hedges, with the captain and secretary. The opening match, Married v. Single, will take placo on Saturday, the 20th inst. Tho usual vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting. The Carnarvon Cricket Club held a committee meeting on Saturday evening la3t, to elect officers and make arrangements for the coming season. The following officers were elected : — President, Mr F. Cooper ; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Hunter, J. R. McLennan, W. Bishop, F. Robinson, W. Taylor, and J. A'Court : secretary and treasurer, Mr C. H. Bowater. The election of a captain was held over until the first match is played. Match Committee — Messrs C. H. Bowater, H. Bishop, and S. Penny* General Committee — Messrs C. H. Bowater, H. Bishop, T. Askew, S. Penny, R. Edwards, and J. A'Court. It was decided that the practice ground be at Messrs A'Court and Edwards', Foxton Line ; matches to be played at Mr J. Kew's, Sandon. It was decided to join the Union. After considerable discussion tbe election of delegates to attend the Union was held over until the first general meeting, which takes place on Saturday next. The bat presented by Mr F. Cooper, ! for the best batting average last season, was won by Mr T. Askew. The ball presented by Mr S. Knight, for best bowling average, was won by Mr C. Ducker. Resolved, That a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr W. Hunter, who met with a serious accident some time ago. The Club will open the season on Saturday next, when a scratch match will be played at Messrs A'Court and Edwards', to be followed by a Smoke Concert in the Campbelltown Hall. Refreshments will be provided by Mr T. Anyon.
