« SEPTEMBER WEATHER, 1894. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — The total rainfall for the past month was 214 inches, as against 4*99 inches in September, 1893, and rain was registered on 19 days. Although the rain showers have been frequent, the falls have not exceeded twenty«hundredths of an inch, except on 4 days during the month, the heaviest fall being 0-37 inches, on the 25th. The month has been remarkable for the steadiness of the barometer, especially since the last Borough elections, on the 13th, since which day the mercury has persistently stood at 30 inches, or a few hundredths of an inch above or below 30. Whether this steadiness of my barometer is the result of the shaking it is said to have got under Mr Carthew's verandah on the day of the election, as reported in the Stau, I can't say. There were 4 frosty nights during the month, the coldest being that of the 15th, when the mercury fell to 2D degrees. The mean temperature at 9.30 a.m. was 50-53 degrees, the maximum being 60 degrees, on the 26th and 27th. I am, etc., SAML. GOODBEHERE. Feilding, Ist October, 1894.
