Ball at Apiti.

A Plain and Faucy Dre9s Ball tendered by tbe Apiti bachelors to the ladies of the district, and surrounding neighbourhood, was held in the Apiti Public Hall on Friday evening, the 21st September. There was a large attendance which would have been considerably larger if the Birmingham friends could have crossed tho river, spll a good f«w came with Andrew Laing'a special coach and they were well rewarded by a good night's dancing. The floor was in capital order, everyone present enjoying themselves thoroughly, and the committee have to be congratulated on their successful efforts. Mr G. Buck man was in his place as M.G., and discharged his duties to the entire satisfaction of all present. The music was supplied by Messrs E. Curran and Weatherston.
