Pohangina Notes.
♦ [FBOM OUB OWN COBBBSFOSDBXT.] I notice a correspondent from here in your issue of last Saturday, said the State school is to be shifted from its present position to the Pohangina township during the Christmas holidays. I would like to know what the children here are going to do if the change is effected. I suppose they are to be deprived of a school altogether through a few of the settlers following the sawmill up to the township. What will become of the school when the timber is cut out 1 No doubt it will stand there as an ornament to the supposed town which will never exist while ABhurst is making such rapid strides. The Awahou school has been erected just across the river, opposite the township. Now if that had been erected just across the ferry road crossing, on the school reserve, the children the south end of the Awabou and the south end of the Harbor Board Block could have attended it, whereas, now, if this school is shifted up the river, another school will have to be built, near at hand, because a lot of the land here is to be out up into small sections very shortly, on which a number of families will be settled. The old settlers here think the Wanga> nui Education Board should do justice to them. There are a great number , of children now on the south end of the Awahou Block who cannot attend : school under any circumstances. J HaHa^ MMM^ HnaHk j
