• THE GREAT MELBOURNE LIBEL CASE. ONE FARTHING DAMAGES. (PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION). Melbourne, Sept. 26 The jury in the Speight-Syme libel action awarded one farthing damages. They found that all the counts, except the sixth, although of a libellous character, were fair comment, and on the sixth count they decided it was not true and not fair comment. This Day. The late Martin Loughlin's estate is valued at a quarter of a million. He bequeathed five thousand pounds to the Roman Catholic schools and other institutions.
