The Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report: — At Palmerston yesterday cattle were in limited numbers. Beef was below requirements, and sold readily. During the week we had placed some privately at current rates, which may now be quoted at 20s the lOOlbs. Store cattle were more inquired for, and moved off freely at quotations. Sheep were in moderate numbers. Hoggets were a shade easier. Fat sheep sold in vendors' favor. Store wethers are without alteration in value. Cattle. — Light beef made £7 0s 6d ; prime fat cows, £6 13s ; forward bullocks, £5 ss ; 2^-yeafs-old steers, £4 ; weaners, 31s. Sheep. — Prime ewes and wethers, 15s ; fat wethers, 14s 6d ; store do., 11s lid ; hoggets, Bs, 9s, 9s 2d, 9s 6d. Pigs — Small bacon pigs, 27s 6d ; large do., £3 Is ; good quality store, 13s 3d to 17s 3d. On Tuesday, at Pahiatua, a full muster of cattle came forward. All sold under the hammer, a total clearance being effected. Store bullocks made up to .£4 12s 6d ; light beef, £1 10s. Other sorts are on a par with Palmerston rates. Sheep are in short supply. Indifferent hoggets, 7s Gd to 7s 9d ; forward wethers, 12s 6d ; fat do., 14s ; store do., 10s.
