The Volunteer Force.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Sept. 17. With the view of placing the volun teer force on a sounder and better basis, a circular has been issued to the following gentleman, who will form a conference on the matter : — Major-General Sir G. Wbitmore, M.L.C, Colonel Fojc, Lieut- Colonel Pitt, Lieut-Colouel Hume, Hon Colonel Baillie, ML C, Lieut Colonel Goring, Lieut-Colonel Newall, Lieut Colonel Webb, Lieut-Colonel Gordon, Lieut-Colonel Bonar, M.L.C., LieutColonel Feldwick, M,L C., Major Har. rie, M.H.R., Hon Major Me wart, M.H.R., Major Joyce, M.K.R., Captain Geo. Hutchison, M.H.R., Captain Coleman, Hon J. G Ward, M.H.R., Captain Cairncross, M.H.R., LieutCommander Allen, M H.R., Captain Russell, MHE, Mr McNab, M.H.R. Mr Willis, M.H.R. It is proposed tbAjb tjie first meeting be held at the Parliamentary Buildings on Friday to determine the course to be adopted for the futuro consideration of these important matters
