Manawatu County Council.
The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held at the Council Chambers on Wednesday last. Present—Crs. Ransom (in the chair), Taylor, Hammond, Robinson, Masters, and Strang. Correspondence was received as folFrom C A. Weightman, calling attention to the obstruction to Pah street, Awahuri, by the erection of gates thereon. From the secretary of the Treasury, advising that £200 loan for the Campbelltown street construction is now available and requesting to know what payment the council required and when. From same, stating that the loan . money for the Hanson and Campelltowa ridings ha^wased the audit. From R H Macmillan re the bad state of the Taikorea road. Prom Jllaoawatu Road board, estima» tod-coat of rebuildiug and reconstructing Awahun bridge, which was £3500, nnd requesting the Council to make provisions for payment of protection of coat. ... ■ From same, a later estimate of cost of rebuilding bridge, which was £4,450 instead of £3,500. From Charles Bray, re-culvert under tramway, a little below Sanson. From a number of Campbelltown rate* pavers, a petition requesting that there be a pound at Campbelltown.— Held Dyer till next meeting Proposed by Cr Stranc. seconded by Cr Masters, That the appliention for the tranrf r of sections Ml, 142 147 TeKawau Surrey District from J. Deroles to W Orr • section 10, Campbelltown township, from J. W Bull to A. K. Bull, and section 109 Campbelltown. from T. W. Bull to N. Turner, be granted.— Carried. Mr Weightman waited on the council with reference to the gates having been Rocked on Pah street, Awahnn, and so obstructing traffic It was decided that the chairman should meet Mr Phillips and Mr Weightman at Awahuri on Saturday afternoon next, and if possible arrange the matter. Proposed by Cr Ransom seconded by Cr Taylor, That the special order mndo on August Bth selling the Sandon Carnarvon Tramway to Messrs Stewart and Hunt be now confirmed, aud that the chairman and Cr Hammond sigu and seal the agreement — Carried. The ordinary business of the council was then resumed, when it was proposed by °r Ransom, seconded by Cr Strang, that the overseer prepare specifications and call tenders for formation of streets in Campbelltown same to be in by noon of aext meeting of council.— Carried.
