• ■■ . . . .■■.... ■!-,;>■-".• Tbe Manchester Rifles paraded lor inspection, in the Assembly Booms last night by Lieut-Col. Kewall. Captain Kirton, Lieuts. Bray and Halcombe, and 32 non ? commisskfiied officers and men were present. Several absentees were" reported on the sick* list. At the conclusion of the parade, Lieut-Col. NewaU complimented the men on the excellent manner in which they went through their drill, also "on their smart, soldiery appearance. He mentioned that Colonel Fox would inspect them on the ■ 27th instant, and he expected there would be a full at* tendance. All absentees would run the risk of being fined. He referred to the arrival of 2000 Martini-Henry rifles in Wellington, and expressed a hope that the corps would be armed with the new weapon at no distant date. A parade will be held on the 20th instant, at which every member is specially requested to be present. The Gazette notifies the issue of the i Imperial Volunteer Officers' Decoration to Lieut. -CoL Pitt, Nelson, f 23 years 102 days service j Lieut-Col. Hon. J. A. ftanar, Westland, 26 years 124 days service j and Major Henry Slater, unattached reserve list of the New Zealand Volunteers, 24 years 129 days service. "
