St. John's Church Social Gathering.

The concert to be given in the Assembly Rooms this evening in aid of St John's Church fund will doubtless prove a great success. A really excellent programme of a varied character, has been prepared, and amongst those taking part in it appear the names of somo of the most popular singers in this district. The performers in the Japanese fan song— which should prove a very enjoyable item— have well rehearsed their parts, and, decked in fanoy costumes, and imitating the graceful attitudes of the almond-eyed ladies the effect should be very pretty. During an interval m the programme refreshments will be handed round amongst the audience, and these will no doubt be duly appreciated. The object for which the concert is to be given is one deserving of hearty support, and it is to be hoped, therefore, that the attendance to night will be very large.
