A PROPOSAL TO USE GATLING GUNS. (?B1 MISS ASSOCIATION 1. Sydney. September 12 The president of the Shearers' Union has suggested a basis for mediation by a Conciliation Board. He urges tbat the Pastoralista should allow shearing for the remainder of the sea- | son on what is known as the verbal agreement, with remuneration on the basis of the 1891 agreement. A conference to be held not later than Jan vary to determine the terms of the new agreement for the next season. The Paatoialists up to the present have cot replied. In the Legislative Council, on the motion for adjournment, a lengthy discussion has taken place on the shearers' difficulty. ■ v Mr Jacobs suggested that the military with Gatling guns should be sent up. The Attorney-General positively declined to take any such action, or remain a member of any Government which did so. The motion was formally negatived. The Pastoralists' Union has declined to accede to the suggestions made through the Conciliation Board, declaring it has no dispute with the employes, further than that the acts of lawlessness committed by a section of the shearers | precluded its acceptance of the euggesThis Daj\ The Peace Preservation Bill has passed - " through committee.
