(['or Press Association.) i N.vriEK, September G. , John Kestall was brought before the ■ MagHt rate's Court this morning cliargrd ; with attempting to murdor by meaus of . arsenic 10 employes on Potuka station. Accused who is about 64 years of age, was remanded for a week. The night previous to the poisoning the cook em- j ployed on the station had been having a i carouse, and the manager charged Bostall | with bringing drink to the Station, which ( accused admitted, and he wns discharged there nnd then. Restall eat down with the other men to partake of breakfast but did not eat any stew. Shortly afterwards he rose from the table and left the wharo. Tho fact that he did not eat was noticed and commented on bj the men t who wondered what was the matter with ( him. Within ten minutes of the conclu- < eio!) of breakfast, evory man who partook of the stow wns vomiting and retching ] violently Traces of arsenic were found in the stew. On examining v drum of areen.c used on the station the manager found marks of threo lingers on the surface, evidently caused bj somebody taking out a good pinch of arsenic.
