A meeting, held yesterday, sent a resolution to the member for the district and the members for Nelson, Buller, and Waimea Sounds, strongly protesting against the action of the Government in granting to the Midland Railway Company concessions which contemplate the Company's withdrawal from the extension of the line to Nelson, and declaring that the settlement of a large portion of the district will be retarded, and the coal and timber trades hampered through want of railway communication with the country north of Reefton.
