Bank of New Zealand.
MEETING OF LONDON SHAREHOLDERS. (Per Press Association.) London, Auaust 27 Mr Glyn, chairman, stated that the Estates Company had never made more than 1A per cent per annum, and this year had made nothing, after providing for interest at 54 per cent, on a million and a-half of debentures. He said the increase in deposits in the Colony amply compensated for the decrease in England. No Bank south of the Equator was stronger than the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Snow proposed that a Committee should be appointed to enquire into the state of the Company's assets, and define the shareholders' position. The Chairman refused to accept the motion, on the ground that it. was useless, as the Bank was practically a Government institution. He did Dot believe the Government would lose oo the guarantee. *
