1.0. G.T. Social.

«. . Despite the fact that Bessie Doyle was appearing in the Assembly Rooms, ; there was a very good attendance at * the Foresters' Hall last evening, where a social in connection with the Good , Templars' Lodge was held. A very , enjoyable evening was spent by all, , and a number of visiting brethren who i were present from Marton and Palmerston assisted materially in making the affair a success. Bro Sherlock, C.T., occupied the chair, and a very lengthy programme was gone through, ; the following taking part, viz. : — Miss Valentine, pianoforte solo ; Mr Flyger, songs ; Mr Sherlock, recita--1 tion and speech : Mr Staffan, violin ; solos ; Miss Worsfold, song ; Mr Lee, song; Mr F. Keen, songs j Misses Simpson, pianoforte duet ; Misses i Pinks and Hall, of Palmerston, vocal duet ; Mr Morris, Marton, song ;Mr Edwards, recitation ; Miss Heald, song ; Misses Simpson and Valentine, pianoforte duet ; Messrs Hill and Merrick, Palmerston, vocal duet. Many of the items were very tastefully given, almost every one being encored. An interval in the programme was pleasantly filled by refreshments being handed round, and full justice was done to the many good things. The accompaniments during the evening were played by Mrs Garlick and the Misses Valentino and Heald.
