HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

In the ;^hop and Shop Assistants Bill it was made a punishable offence for an employer to threaten a girl with iismissal if she used the sitting accommodation which the Act requires him to provide Employers were also compelled to give employes a full hour for dinner. The House rose at 5.40. The Bouse resumed at 7.30. The Shipping and seamen's Act Amendment Bill and ."-hop and Shop Assistants Bill were passed through committee with amendments which will be considered on Thursday. The Hawker and Pedlars' Bill was partly considered in committee. The Master and Apprentice Bill (No. 2) was read a second time pro forma, the debate to be taken when the Bill returns from the Labour Bills Committee. The Native Land Court Bill, Adulteration Prevention Act Amend ment Bill, Eating Bill, Eedeaignation of Districts Bill, Destitute Persons Bill were read a second time. Mr Ward moved the second reading of the Eating on Unimproved Value Bill, but the deba>e was adjourned. The Oaths Act Amendment Bill was read a third time aud passed. The House rose at 11.45, !
