Messrs Abraham and William* report :— We held our Awahuri sale on. Tuesday ; young cattle advanced in. price; beef was firm at quotations and made ready sale j the fat bullocks - advertised did not come forward and was a cause of disappointment to many ; sound hogget* sold freely at improved rates. A moderate supply of stock was yarded at Falmerston yesterday. Sheep met with fair com- , petition ; the hoggets were rather deficient in quality. Steers and wean* era were steady throughout; milch cows and heifers neglected. During ' the week we sold privately 2000 store wethers at current rates. Awahuri.— Weaners made 27s 6d to 395 ; yearlings, £2 10* ; etore bullock? . £4 17s 6d ; fat cows, £4 18s to £6 lOs 6d ; others, £4 10s. Store wethers, . 10s; hoggets, 6s to 8s 4d; Eomney ewee, mixed ages, 10s. Palmerston.— Weanere, 34s to 38s ; indifferent sorts, 265 : yearling steen, £2 12s 6d j 20-month steers, £3 13s ; forward bullocks, £5 ; springing heifers, £4 6d. Forward wethers, 12s sd j others, 9a 6d ; breeding ewes, 7s ; onlls 5s 3 ; hoggets, 6s to Bs, At Pahiatua on the 21st., stock in excess of those advertised came forward; but was in short supply and. .-• sold in advance of late rates j prime* wethers on a par with late quotations.
