The annual repreeeatative match between Nianawatu and Wanganui will bo played to-morrow, and should be a very even contest, although the chances are slightly in favor of Manawatu The Manawatu team will go up by the morning train leaving at 7 15 a.m., returning the same evening. The challenge sent by the Man cheater Rifles to the Manawatu Mounted Eifles, to play a friendly match at football, has not been responded to J . Manning, one of tbe wing forwards selected for to-morrow's match, is unable to get away. The New South Wales representatives arrived at Auckland yesterday. They play their first match with Auckland to-morrow, and on the following Wednesday will meet the North Island team at Anckland. On Saturday, September Ist, they will meet Taranaki at New Plymouth. After the Wanganui match they will leave for Palmerston and on the following morning proceed to Napier where they play Hawke's Bay on Wednesday, September sth. At the conclusion of the WanganuiManawatu match to-morrow, tbe combined team to play New South Wales will be picked. Messrs A. D. Thomson and J. Weekes are the selectors.
