j Per Press Association] . Wellington, August 22 The Council met at 2.30. On the motion of the Hon. Mr Jennings, a return was ordered showing ing amount paid by Government annually in pensions to persons residing out of the colony, with names and amounts. On the motion for committal of the Divorce Bill, the Hon Sir George Whitmore moved its committal that day three months, on the score that the Bill was not required. The amendment was lost by 18 to - 15, and the Bill committed. The Hon. Pharazyn moved the excision of sub-section placing sexes on an equality with regard to obtaining divorce for adultery. The amendment was lost. Progress was then reported. The Laßd for Settlement Bill was read a first time. Companies Accounts Audit Bill was committed. Clause 5, providing pen* alties for officers or against companies refusing to produce books or documents was amended by making' the penalty £50 or three months imprisonment. The Council then adjourned.
