The House met at 2.80. - In reply to a question the Premier said he should put the police on the track of the so-called . medical healer named Eugene who had persuaded several people to dispose of their property and leave the colony hy prophesying its total destruction on a certain date: ' : In reply to another question^ tbe Hon Mr McKeozie eaid enquirjejMrere being made respecting eoof storage accommodation in Paris, Berlin, and Vienna so as to extend our shipments of meat etc beyond the British market* The rest of the afternoon; was devoted to the consideration of Ideal Bills. ' ■ ■■ ; si. ■■••£ The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30. The Harbours Act Amendment Bill was put through its final stages. : The House went into Committee" on the Land for Settlement Bill. Clause 3, with reference to the constitution of the Board of Land Purchase Gommissioners, provoked a discussion which lasted several hours. A motion to strike out the member for the district was carried by 33 to 32, and a motion to strike out the county chairman was carried by 32 to 26. The clause, as amended, was added the Bill. Glauses 4, 5, and 6 also caused long discussion, but all attempts to materially alter any of their provisions . were unsuccessful.
