The Christchurch Unemployed.
(TMM TRBBIt ASSOCIATION ) Chbibtchcrch, August 12. Mr G. J. Smitb, M.H.R., arrived from >Vellington yesterday on a special mission to endeavour to induce the local authorities to arrange a plan for rising funds to provide employment for men out of work, and to get a Government i subsidy thereon. He interviewed the Mayor of Christchurch and those of the suburban municipalities, and has ar- ; ranged a meeting of those gentlemen 1 with the chairman of the Charitable Aid Board on Monday. Mr Collins, M.H.R., '< also saw the Mayor in reference to ques* ' tioub, and will attend tbe acutiny. ]
