Prohibition Meetings.

The first of a aeries of Sunday afternoon meetings was held under the Auspices of the Prohibition League in the Temperance Hall yesterday afternoon, when there was a very largo attendance, the hall being fall. The President of the league (the Her. W. H. Judkins) occupied the chair. The temperance choir rendered several selections of music during the afternoon. The speakers were Mr Reid, of Sandon, and Mr J, Greenwood, of Feilding. The former gentleman spoke for some time from the words i( Take courage my brother," and his address proved most interesting. Mr Greenwood referred to the question of revenue, which opponents to the temperance cause raise as an obstacle to retard the progress of prohibitionists, and he quoted various extracts to prove that the revenue would not materially suffer by total prohibition being Jjrought about. Mr Greenwood's remarks were intently listened to. It is the intention of the league to hold tbeso meetings every month or so, but I when the weather is more favourable they will be held out of doors instead i of in the hall.
