GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE MEETING. (Per Press Association) C'nRisTcHrRCH, August 11. Beautiful weather prevailed for the second day's racing of the C J.C. Grand National meeting to-day, and the attendance was large. Following are the results: — August Handicap, of 115 sove, throequarters of a mile. — Mariner, 1 ; Magazine, 2 ; War ring ton, 3. Fifteen others started. Won by a length. Time, 1 rain 25aec8. Dividends £24 Gs 6d and £18 2s 6d. Christchurch Hunt Club Cup, of 60 soys., 2£miles.— Roscius, 1 ; Joker, 2 ; Glen, 3. Won easily by a couple of hundred yards. Time, smin 28secs. Dividends, £2 12s and £l 16s 6d. Grand National Hurdle Race, of 300 bovb., two miles —P. Butler's Liberator, 12st 61b (Holmes), 1 ; D Rutherford's Baruardo, lOst (R. Kingan), 2; S. WaddelPs Empire, lOst slb (Cotton) 8. Kulnine 12st 31b, and Melinite lOst 101 b also started. Melinite fell at the first fence. Liberator, who landed in the straight with a clear lead, strode home an easy winner by fire lengths from Barnardo, with Empire a dozen lengths away, third. Time, 4min s ? sees. Dividends, £2 14s 6d and £3 0s 6d. Beaufort Steeplechase, of 1 50 soys. two miles and a half — Robin, 1 ; Bombardier, 2 ; Booties, 3. Four others started. Won by a length and a half, a length between second and third. Time smin 32 £ sees Dividends, £4 4s aud £3 16s, Hunters' Hurdle Handicap of 50 soys, once round and a distance — Gillie 1 ; Pumao, 2 ; Solomon, 3. Five others started. Won by three lengths. Time, 3mtn 12 {sees. Divi dends, £4 5s and £6 14s. | Final Hurdle Handicap, of 75 soys once round and a distance. — Empire, 1 ; Jacob Faithful, 2 ; Kulnine, 3. Three others started. Wou by two lengths. Dividends, £4 16s and £4 10s Gd. Ladies Bracelet, of 35 soys , 1 mile and a half.— Patch, 1, Kiri Paka, 2 : Tho Shark, 3. Four others started. Won by three lengths. Dividend, £4 17s. The sum of £7175 passed through the totalisator, mciking a total of £12,319 for the meeting.
