An M.H.R. on his Dignity.
(Per Press Association). Chbibtchcech, August 5. A question of privilege was raised in the Magistrate's Court to-day, when Mr Joyce, M.H.8., objected to enter into the usual recognisance to appear as a witness at the next sitting of the Supreme Court against an accused person who was this morning committed for trial. Mr Joyce said that as a matter of right he should be permitted to refer the matter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, but Mr Westenra said the formality must be complied with or he would have to detain Mr Joyce in custody. The matter was settled by Mr Joyce signing the necessary document.
