The Stock Market.
Mestrs Gorton and Son's stock sale on Friday and horse sale on Saturday were the means of bringing large numbers of settlers and others into Feilding on those days. At the stock sale the entries of cattle and sheep were large, but the prices obtained did not show any increase, although most of the lots offered were quitted. At the horse sale Messrs Hocken Bros.' horsea attracted a number of buyers, and all were sold, the draughts fetching from £18 to £2:1, and light harness horses from £11 to £15 7s 6d. On account of other vendors the prices realised were : For hacks, from £8 to £10 10s; harness horses, from £17 to £18; old sorts, from £5 to £9 10s ; unbroken draught colt, £15 ; crocks, 30s to £2. All useful hacks and draughts found a ready sale, but there was not much demand for inferior sorts. A. G. Tairie and Co., Wellington, report holding their weekly horse sale on Friday # There was again a very small entry. There was a fair demand for good young express horses and light harness sorts, but not for very high priced draughts, Wo sold useful aged draughts at £13 and £14 ; 3-year-old colt, half draught, £11 10s ; hacks, £6 15s and £5 ; good light harness horses, £14 and £12 10s.
