We wish Mr Saywell every success in his new enterprise. ' The Law Pr«ctitioners Act Amendment introduced by MrG. Hutchison restricts the examinations in general knowledge and law to subjects in the English langu age, the examiners must be persons resident in the colony, and the fees are fixed at £2 2k for examicaUon, £6 ds for admis, mon. and £3 3s for annual certificate. Power is given to Judges in charge of judical districts where no Law Society exists to charge an annual fee for the for inntion or maintenance of law libraries, and the sixth and sixteenth sections of the Lnw Practitioners' Act. 1882, are amended by the omission of the word "male " On the 10th and 11th of September the " Messiah " and " Elijah " will be given at the Theatre Royal, Palmerston, by the Palmerston Wesleyan choir, assisted by numerous friends from Feilding, Marton, Wanganui and Woodvillc. They meet for practice on Monday nights in the Primitive Methodist Church. The necessity for the appointment of more Justices of the Peace resident within the Borough of Feilding was exemplified on Saturday morning, when two of the Justices whose services are most frequently used were laid up with sickness. Two Justices were required and His Worship the Mayor was the only one who could be obtained at the time, and Constable Tuohy had to hunt around the town with the hope of dropping across another who might happen to be in town. Had the suggestion we made some time ago been adopted this difficulty would have been averted. \\ c would again urge on the authorities the necessity of other appointments.
