An Interesting Point.
(PER PBBSS ASSOCIATION.} Chbibtchukch, July 18. At the Supreme Court to-day, John Evans appealed against the decision of Mr Bishop, S.M., convicting him of a breach of section 2, sub-section 1, of the Police Offences Act Amendment Act, 1890, the charge against him being that he had driven a traction engine along the public road without the engine having been accomplished by two men at least to keep constant look out in front and behind the engine to warn riders and drivers of horses and vehicles of its proximity and to assist them in passing it in safety, and submitted on behalf of appellant that two men on the engine met the requirements of the Act, and that it was not necessary to have men in front and behind. His Honor said that the section seemed to be one of the puzzles which the Legislature bad provided Ibr judges to deal with. He reserved his decision.
